You can also turn on your limited free trial which gives you unlimited hearts. I'm fairness to duo, it's really got at reminding you when the free trial ends and allowing you to go back to standard.
I've used the free offer once or twice to cover missing hearts/gems
afaik studying to get hearts is not disabled in the web version, it's works nice in mobile browser
I think when they originally started with Hearts A/B testing (really long time ago, can't remember when) I wasn't even able to refill my hearts without using gems. Don't think there was any other way to get them back.
Made me quit duolingo for a couple of years.
If your streak is important to you, you could equip a streak freeze or just buy more hearts. I think the streak freezes are cheaper
In any event I have, top to bottom
- refill hearts for 350
- unlimited hearts
- practice to earn hearts
Thanks for your options and opinions. The streak is addictive but I decided to punish this move by Duolingo and delete the app. I switched to LingoDeer for now. I did find this fun message when I tried to delete the app that made me chuckle.
