I’ve been testing the Memmy client for the past couple of days and it’s been getting better pretty quickly. If you want to check it out: https://github.com/gkasdorf/memmy

I’m posting from it right now! Works great. Don’t forget about the community for it in lemmy.ml

So many improvements in just the past few days

I’ve been enjoying using the app, once the ability to sort comments and search for communities is added it’ll cover all my bases for a main app.

The dev seems be busy pushing out updates consistently so I’m sure it’ll only get better!

Yeah, there’s still a ways to go for even feature parity with the web client. No complaints though. The dev is busy AF with it at the moment. I’m looking forward to not needing to use the webui. I’m really not a fan of using it on mobile.

I’ve been using it for a few days now and the updates have been consistent. Definitely a solid app already.

I’ll give it a go. Also testing Mlem, BTW.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Also, how does it compare to memmy so far?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

They're similar. Mlem seems to be a slightly more featureful at the moment, but its release cadence seems slower. Mlem's compact mode is better at being compact. Memmy has an ability to set a default view.

Edit: Mlem now has a setting for default sort order.

I've been trying to try out mlem but keep getting "the beta is full" messages from test light. Any idea if theres an invite link that still works?

I'm trying out an Android client as well - https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa

It seems to work well. I'd be interested in making a client myself, but it's a lot of work!

How my interest dies with everything “It’s a lot of work”

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

That’s me, I work with iOS and always think: “I can make an app” but polishing it enough to be better than alternatives would take months and I’d probably lose interest along the way.

It’s really good, hope they will add a light theme soon.

Should it work with Kbin? I get a JSON parse error.

[–] SpaceSnek 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Memmy has been great!! Only issue so far is the occasional unblurred NSFW popping up while scrolling, but other than that very easy and lightweight to use

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Looks like that was fixed in the most recent update!

Should it work with Kbin? I get a JSON parse error.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The two have different APIs, so cross platform support would require extra work. :)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Does Kbin even have an API?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Not currently. There’s an unofficial one and I believe an app being made (kmoon).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Right. I wasn’t entirely sure if it was supposed to work on Kbin or not. Hopefully one of these days we’ll have a client!

Testflight us for iOS only. How can I test on Android?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

~~I believe it's only for iOS unfortunately~~ Ignore me, it is for Android too

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It says it's for both iOS and Android on GitHub

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Oh! I missed that
