For only ~~$100~~ ~~$200~~ $300 USD, you too can save 5 minutes setting up TrueNAS Scale! Featuring a cloud-only UI (I sure do love not being able to access my local hardware when the internet goes out!), a plug and play setup (having recently installed TrueNAS Scale, this isn't new), and a potential subscription fee for cloud features in the future! Wow, sounds so amazing /s.

I really don't see the customer base here. This is basically a wrapper for TrueNAS that makes things more locked down and will inevitably introduce bugs. You still have to buy your own hardware so the price is going to be up there with Synology and the like. And I can guarantee everyone but the most basic user will have to dive into and learn TrueNAS anyway to accomplish anything beyond the basics like setting up private shares or installing QBittorrent or Arr programs, etcetera. So you really will save only a few minutes, in it's current state, and then you're back to square 1. And I believe Linus himself has said to never buy into something based on future promises.

I think they should have been a lot more cautionary in this video.

For a second there I thought it was Torwalds but then I saw the community name.

I haven't set up TrueNAS, and felt it being a hurdle not knowing much about it. Other than the price this feels like a great way to start with a more advanced NAS than my current linkstation solution. Simple setup and easy GUI, but with the possibility to dig deeper if needed!

But might be worth to try TrueNAS and see if I can get it sorted.

TrueNAS isn't hard to setup at all.
