Twenty seconds of courage.

Pretend you’re full of confidence and lift yourself up. You’re now the most social person ever existed. You can handle any social situation even this one.

Now, do the thing you want to do and do it for at least twenty seconds. Take your time doing it.

Often it turns out it wasn’t that scary or didn’t go as bad as you thought it would and you can continue doing it. If it does, it’s okay, you tried and that counts too. Practice makes perfect. Also know that how others act is not a reflection of your self worth.

Just a gentle reminder to give yourself some love.

To add to this: Start small if it’s too daunting and go from there.

Sometimes steps you want to take are a bit too ambitious. First try smaller steps to make the big step not so big anymore.

Go and ask your crush out? HUGE STEP. Just talk to them and make small talk, maybe also a bit too big? Send them a cute message on socials or leave a note? Be creative.

What also helps for me is to voice my anxiety. To my friends or to the one you’re experiencing it with. “Okay so I am super nervous” already relieves me from a ton of pressure. It changes the dynamics and creates room for compassion. Let them help you.

Constantly tell myself nobody gives a shit about me or what I’m doing.

Look at that meme showing a picture of the galaxy with an arrow pointing to you worrying about your muffins burning.

Remember, all we really are is a collection of atoms and molecules vibrating and jumbling around. We’re not really sentient.
