Just found it now thanks to you!
Edible Weeds
A community centred around a massively under-utilized food source: the edible weeds we mow down, rip out of our gardens, or spray to kill! Weeds can provide a good auxilliary food source if one knows what theyre looking for.
Share your finds, information, questions, or expertise here!
Please Note: Always do ample research before eating wild plants and be sure you are absolutely sure you know what youre eating! Many wild plants can make you sick if misidentified or improperly prepared. If in doubt, ask an expert before consuming and always use common sense!
This post showed up in my all feed and now you have at least 18 subs.
It kinda just showed up on my feed one day so I subscribed.
I honestly thought this was about weed edibles 😅
I was waiting for someone to mention that.
Doom scrolling All and found this post. I’ll subscribe as I’m intrigued
I'm seeing this on Kbin and it's posted under Random
lmao same
This has actually happened to me a couple of times now and I have no idea what the subs the OP's are talking about. Since they're assuming everyone else is in the instance and they don't say the name, it's just like,
Awww yeah man I'm SO stoked to be here today in this lovely place, I mean can you just believe how niche and small this spot is but wow I just can't believe this spot that has a name that I just am so bewildered to be in I'm not even going to say it!
Like, of course they wouldn't, why would they need to they're there making the post!
But then on my end... it's [email protected]'s thread inside Random with 4220(lit) subscribers... Just what niche sub are we in?! PlaidBarons?
i found a way to see it. on the post, hover "more", then click "copy url to fediverse". it's [email protected] .
Nice! Good find!
It's on my topTwelveHout now lol
I just found it on local/active.
I'm not subscribed, I just randomly saw this when browsing ALL. I'm vaguely curious to try eating dandelions, just because they're so common. Is there a good beginner recipe for dandelions, or you just pick them and eat them straight from the ground? Can you eat the stem or just eat the flower? Can you prepare it as a Dandelion Salad? What kind of dressing goes good with it?
It's the leaves that are used for salads and such, like arugula, basically. Flowers are usually used in teas afaik.
Just dont pick the really big leaves. They can get really bitter, like a lot of greens. You kind of have to err on the smaller side if you want to minimize that. If you like bitter greens, on the other hand, go for it.
I've had dandelion leaves boiled (to soften them) and then sautéed in oil, garlic, red pepper, and some other herbs. Honestly they were way way better than I was expecting, a kind of unexpected but not unpleasant flavor. My regular grocery store sells dandelion greens though.
Found myself here from lemmy.world All categories, from the Dandelion Cream Pie post.
I'm not much of a cook, but I do enjoy learning things related to survival, which includes what plants are edible.
This post showed up right now when scrolling local. This place looks nice, I will be staying.
It showed up in the "Trending Communities" section on the main page.
Same for me, saw it in trending when I think there was maybe one post here?
I do wonder how trending works, as at the moment it seems to favor brand-new communities, often with no posts and low single digit subscribers. I think having some automated highlight of new communities is great, but that's not really what I imagine for "trending".
Hey, we have dozens of subscribers. Dozens!
Now yes, but not when you were trending! 😆
I loved your post in [email protected] and clicked on your username to see what else you were up to.
Suggestion on the search menu, I believe.
