Next campaign, I want to roll a bardbarian inspired by Eddie Riggs of Brutal Legend. Stat spread would be abysmal but worth it.
One level of warlock buys you eldritch blast and mask of many faces.
One level of artificer buys you the ability to cast cure wounds with your spellslots, and the ability to use medium armour.
They're real popular splashes.
so if i understood that correctly... basically if you dont multiclass you'll be worse than others of the same class
does mean its never a good choice to play stricly as one class? or at least that there are classes that gain more than they lose from going off course?
If you're playing Paladin, Sorcerer, or Bard, you're already leveling the most important stat for warlock, charisma.
Hexblade Warlocks also also get the ability to use their CHA bonus to swing their weapons so there's no need to put points in any physical stats

Yes
why is everything a warlock in dnd?
It multiclasses well, two levels for agonising repelling blast, plus a subclass feature, and then you can pick any charisma caster.
