Its like some influencer gave a hot tip to every YTer and they are all adopting it. The actual music sucks though. Some weird slowed down heavy reverb low bitrate crap. Maybe its just me. Get off my lawn, you damn kids.

I assumed it was an attempt to mask videos from automatic copyright scanners. Like, the software couldn't recognize the video as being copyrighted material if the sound was very different from the original audio.

Youtube itself hosts a library of royalty free music and effects to use in videos. Many creators just use that.

I personally don’t notice the music that much, I’m more annoyed by overused sound effects.

There's libraries of loyalty free music that these things sometimes come out of. Or AI.

loyalty free music

I would correct you, but technically paying royalties is, to some very loose degree, a declaration of loyalty, even if just to legal frameworks. Haha.

A lot of popular YouTubers use the same couple of libraries too

I've noticed that clearly CC stuff like HOME gets used quite often... and yt folks often make homages to other users (like Summoning Salts favorite track being used for accomplishments/records now)

Can't say that I have. Do you have a sample video with the kind of music you're talking about?

Ok heres a random one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dslLBsHkVzE You expect maybe some background music on a war or nature documentary or something, but especially vlog type informational channels are now doing it. This music on this particular video is better than most and I can almost live with it. This trend just started in the last 6 months. Once you start looking for it, its inescapeable.

Now they’re are doing it? There is nothing new about this, this has been a thing for YEARS.

The weirdest music seems to be middle eastern and Indian/Pakistani videos of things as innocuous as machine shops and auto repair. They blast music over some guy fixing a broken wheel hub.

We must allow this to maintain balance.
