That’s all you got? I have a drawer full of those from Attiny85 to pi 4 and rp2040. They’re fun and useful.

I’m very jack-of-all-trades. This is just one of many collections for different hobbies.

I’m just teasing. This is an awesome hobby to have.

What are all those little things

[–] otacon239 3 points 2 months ago

M5 Stack microcontrollers mostly. They can be programmed to do all sorts of things, and almost every device here can connect to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

what's your plan with all of that gear?

[–] Diplomjodler3 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are you trying to imply gear needs to be useful?

lol no

just trying to fish for some inspiration. i've got a nice little collection of (let's call them) usables of my own (:

Looks cool. Care to explain a bit what will these things are and their capabilities? I'd be interested.

Short version is that most of these are based on the ESP32 microcontroller. They allow you to upload code of any sort and have it make use of the hardware available. They also allow you to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allowing you to do all sorts of unique IoT stuff without needing to find a random company to make it for you and have access to your network.

As a current example, I’m planning combining the smallest one and the digit display to connect to the ODB port on my car and show my gas mileage, digital speed, etc since I have an older car.

Plus they’re just neat!

What firmware do you run on the cardputer?

[–] otacon239 3 points 2 months ago

You know, if I’m being completely honest, I’ve struggled to find something useful for it. It’s incredibly niche. I mostly collect these cause I think they’re neat, and try to find uses for them later.
