SML2 is pretty easy but the floaty/slipperiness of Mario does take some getting used too. I love it for the music. Especially in space zone!

I managed to beat the tree zone and get the first coin. Cost me way too many lives but managed to win 20 lives in the fruit machine.

Halloween is coming soon, so I managed to beat the pumpkin zone for the third coin. The witch was a rather easy boss.

Fourth coin is go! Managed to beat the rat boss in Macro Zone. Easiest stage so far.

Now at the boss level in the Turtle Zone. So far the game got easier. I think it means I am getting the hang of it. Also, now I have 999 coins and can try to get the BIG prize.

I tried the Wario Castle a few times, but failed. I am not in the mood to practice it more. So I am now looking at some of the secret levels.
The Space Zone secret level is relatively easy to reach. But as usual you have to go through this every time you want to play it.

@[email protected] It's one of the titles I loved the most, if there was a counter of the hours of play would be more than 600h of play.
So… easy mode it is. I do get to Wario, but haven’t beaten him yet. The lack of a checkpoint is a bit tedious, but now this all seems doable for me.

My best run so far was 5 hits to Wario. So roughly half of what I need. If only there were a checkpoint right before Wario! It is soooo tedious to do the previous run. I shouldn’t have cheaped out on the Everdrive. I have the X5 and the X7 has savestates… we also have the original game, but that doesn’t have savestates either. :)

And after 12 tries I managed it in easy mode. I would guess it would take me at least 30 tries on normal mode. But I think this is not worth my time. :)
This was all played on the refurbished red play it loud DMG. So real hardware, but modern screen, as the old display board was corroded away by battery leakage.

@[email protected] I think the final level may be appropriately difficult but the rest of the game before it didn't scale up to it. Because the player can start anywhere, each world seems equally difficult rather than slowly increasing. I don't know how it could have been done, but it needed some sort of scaling mechanic to ratchet up the difficulty as worlds were completed.
