So now today he has vowed to march forces across the country and tag immigrants with serial numbers. Give him a few hours he's gonna say the immigrants will be detained in camps. He's gone full Hitler.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

They were already detained in camps and cages under his administration. Cruelty is a feature for him. But it isn’t a requirement for effective illegal immigration deterrent, as Biden has shown.

Simple Facts

  • Under President Biden, the Border Patrol has arrested more people for illegally crossing the southern border into the country than in any other period since the government started keeping count in 1960. Source

  • Congress has failed for decades to pass meaningful legislation. Read more

  • Trump repeatedly tried and successfully blocked bi-partisan legislation that would increase border security. That bill, which Biden supported would have given the president new powers to shut down the border, which Biden said he would do.

  • The Biden administration has deported more people than Trump’s administration. Source

Action Taken By the Biden Administration

  • Executive Orders on Asylum: President Biden issued executive orders to temporarily halt the processing of most asylum claims when unauthorized crossings exceed 2,500 per day. Those crossing unlawfully are generally ineligible for asylum unless they meet exceptional circumstances. Source

  • Increased Border Enforcement: The administration has deployed more agents and officers to the southern border, seized record levels of illicit substances, and increased repatriation flights. Source

  • New Immigration Docket: A Recent Arrivals docket was launched to expedite immigration cases for those crossing illegally, allowing quicker removal of those without legal claims. Source

  • Suspension of Entry: A Presidential Proclamation suspends entry for certain noncitizens at the southern border during periods of high encounters, with strict asylum eligibility rules. Source

  • CBP One App Usage: The CBP One app has processed appointments for over 413,300 migrants in 2023 alone, providing an alternative legal pathway for migrants to apply for entry at official ports of entry. This app has helped reduce illegal crossings by offering a structured and controlled process for asylum seekers to enter the U.S. through legal means. Encounters between ports of entry have dropped by more than 50 percent and remain at their lowest level in years. Source Source.

By the Numbers: Trump vs. Biden on Illegal Immigration

Trump Administration (2017-2021)

Biden Administration (2021-Present)

Effectiveness by the Numbers

Conclusion

By raw numbers, Biden's administration has been more effective at expelling or deporting more migrants than Trump's. However, this is partly due to the significantly higher number of border crossings during Biden's term, which led to an increase in expulsions under Title 42. Biden could have been more effective if not for Trump’s interference in passing bi-partisan immigration legislation.

might as well rename them to Schutzstaffel

[–] DocMcStuffin 32 points 1 month ago

A word like that is too big for his base to understand. They need something simple like the SS.

Stroopwaffel?! YAY!

Federal stormtroopers invading cities to grab every Hispanic person they see and figure out who to arrest/deport later. Really every minority who doesn’t have a government ID physically on them when stopped and questioned.

Raids of entire neighborhoods. Forcibly and likely at night while everyone is sleeping for “officer safety.” The child separation policy could also be in effect, ripping families apart as they are hauled away separately in police buses to overcrowded concentration camps with little food, clean water, and medical care.

These people tend to equate rights with power.

The Christian candidate is being pretty antisancuary.

Reminds me of the story of how Jesus ordered the Roman military to attack -his- scapegoats!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

You silly billy, didn't you hear? Trump is the second coming of Jesus! He can do whatever he wants!

(Only h/j, because some of his followers actually think this.)

Reminder to all federal forces:

https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=%28title:5%20section:3331

You swore an oath to defend the constitution against domestic enemies. Between Agent Orange over here constantly calling to attack some part of our country and literally carrying out an insurrection, vs the undocumented Latino dude selling badass street food out of his corner food truck... which do you think poses the greater threat to our constitution?

[–] Maggoty 10 points 1 month ago

The title is misleading. He said he'd use federal law enforcement. This is an important distinction because the military is very serious about their oath. Cops aren't though and already showed they would be willing to serve him directly during the BLM protests.

The tamale lady is like the perfect example of what we were taught about the idealized USA and immigration as kids.

They fuck with the tamale lady and they have no idea the hell they'll unleash.

[–] someguy3 17 points 1 month ago

“As soon as I take office, we will immediately surge federal law enforcement to every city that is failing, which is a lot of them,” he continued. “To turn over criminal aliens, and we will hunt down, capture every single gang member, drug dealer, rapist, murderer, and migrant criminal that is being illegally harbored.

“I will ask Congress to pass a law outlawing sanctuary cities nationwide, and we demand the full weight of the federal government on any jurisdiction that refuses to cooperate with [Immigration and Customs Enforcement],” Trump added.

[–] Maggoty 13 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Title is misleading. He mentioned federal law enforcement specifically because when he tried to use the military in 2020 they told him to fuck off. It is certainly possible to make a force out of cops that's a distinction without a difference to the people being taken but the distinction is very important because if the military does go for Trump then the course back to democracy becomes very bloody. A bunch of cops are much more like bullies, liable to stand down in the face of local ire.

It is certainly possible to make a force out of cops

You mean like Cop City?

[–] DougHolland -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

All true, except your claim that the title is misleading.

[–] Maggoty 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Federal forces reads as indicting the cops and military to me. That's why I think it's misleading.

[–] DougHolland -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You reading more into it than it says is misunderstanding, but not misleading.

[–] Maggoty 2 points 1 month ago

Sure, except why use the phrase federal forces instead of federal law enforcement? Unless you're trying to invoke images of both?

[–] njm1314 7 points 1 month ago (4 children)

How would this look in actuality? Like I hear what he's saying, but how does it actually look if he somehow did it? Are we talking like tanks rolling into houston? Is it like open war in the streets? Are they going to start gunning down police officers?

[–] stankmut 4 points 1 month ago

It's hard to imagine police officers not backing their boy.

[–] Maggoty 2 points 1 month ago

He specifically mentioned federal police. Because he knows the military won't do it without years of purging the officer corps. So it'll look a lot like the BLM protests/police riots of 2020.

[–] someguy3 1 points 1 month ago

Yes to tanks, shoot anyone that gets in the way.

[–] danc4498 3 points 1 month ago

And might as well enforce voting laws while you’re federal police are in town.
