I think the animated spider man movies are better than the live action ones imho.

That's just an objective fact. Spider-Man works better animated, and Miles Morales is a much more interesting character than the Peter Parker we get in the live action movies. And I like the MCU Spider-Man movies, and I think Tom Holland has been great. But SpiderVerse has more to work with, more options to be creative, and more artistic flexibility, and they have taken advantage of it.
Not to mention that the last spiderverse movie ended on a big cliff hanger while the Tom Holland wrapped up its story completely. If either movie should come out first, it should be the spiderverse one.
The first one was amazing. The second one was a little, meh with no payoff til the next movie.
The second one would have been just as good, the cliffhanger ending ruined it tho
It didn't try to be a full movie. Which might have worked if it was just 6-12 months to the third
I think they kinda killed interest in the animated movie by making the second with a cliffhanger ending. I loved the first and was psyched to see the second, and the moment I heard it had a cliffhanger ending I lost all interest in watching it.
It's kind of amazing how they set up multiple antagonists in that movie while having no closure to any of them.
The second movie was not very satisfying
Conceptually I agree with you. However it was easily my favorite film of the year.
When I heard it was to be continued, I decided I would just wait for the 3rd and watch both at once. I'm sure I'll love it but I'll wait
They scrapped most of the movie for creative reasons? Wow. The way it was written, I would think the second half was mostly laid out. Part 1 was freaking fantastic and it’ll suck waiting two and a half more years for it.

This is how most of Across the Spider-Verse was produced as well. Vulture even wrote an exposé on the behind-the-scenes drama, it's an eye-opening read.
I thought you meant the villain from the movie wrote an expose on the movies development. Now I'm kinda disappointed.
