Meanwhile On Grad

Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!

What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of biased source)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.

Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

Just forget about .ml. you'll be happier

I’m usually on mobile and don’t check what instance a given post is from, I usually only find out it was ml by getting hateful DMs from teenagers and/or getting banned several days later

Totally. Jump in the settings, depending on your app you can instance block

Honestly, the sooner the bigger instances defederate from .ml, the better. It will suck to lose some of those comms, but pretty much all the major ones have replacements on other instances, and defederating from them will force people to go to those replacements.

I too, got the instance wide ban stick for saying .ml mods suck in one of their comms. I was being a dick and deserved the ban (from the comm not the whole instance IMO) for saying that, but with how much they abuse instance bans they deserve to be defederated. Can't say anything even remotely negative about the mods/admins or disagree with their opinions without getting banned from tons of completely unrelated comms.

Let them stew in their own little circlejerk like hexbear. The wider lemmyverse would be better off for it.

Let's extrapolate out from this mods behavior; what does their ideal government look like? Can their ideal government handle honest dissent from affected parties?

Why should anyone show respect to this type of human filth?

Refer to my initial comment in the screenshot, I said that everyone but keyboard warrior tankies get banned from .ml eventually. Admin proceeded to immediately prove my point-again.

I've been blocking instances with rude people and weird admins. That feature is rather handy

I just blocked .ml entirely, and my feed and experience on Lemmy will be all the better for it.
