The White Dude Abides.
This is weird. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’ll be honest—as a white dude, I don’t really get it and I think it’s kind of weird. But if it actually convinces someone to vote for Harris who would have otherwise voted for Trump then great. I don’t understand why it might have that effect on someone but if it works that’s all that matters I guess and it’s worth trying
It’s not so much any one group, but the series of calls of different , diverse groups that is catching attention. They groups are different and most Americans will probably fall into one, and it’s a great way to get out of the echo chamber. Especially for the undecided voter who might not see that kind of support in their personal lives.
It’s very isolating to be in a red state where even talking about democrats or their policies will get you ostracized. So this type of discussion isn’t even happening in those communities. This can really open some people’s eyes to other viewpoints that are never talked about in their area
It’s a show of solidarity across race and gender lines. As a white dude if I had the money to donate I would show my solidarity too.
This is a quote from the organizer Ross Morales Rocketto:
“The reason that we are doing this is that … the left has been ceding white men to the MAGA right for way, way too long. Trump won over 60% of white men in both 2016 and 2020. And that is going to stop tonight, because we know that the silent majority of white men aren’t actually MAGA supporters. They’re folks like you who just want a better life for our families.”
How's it weird to want a better candidate?
No it’s weird to call a campaign “white dudes for Harris” that’s just about convincing white guys to vote for someone who isn’t white I guess? Is that what it is? I don’t understand what this campaign brings to the table exactly. Do some white guys need to be told it’s okay to vote for the clearly better, not crazy, not weird, normal person who wants normal things for people just because they’re not white?
