I haven't played any of the first three games and their announcement of I and II HD-2D makes me want to wait until all three are released. III may be the first in terms of lore, but I usually like to stick to the release order with stuff that's connected.

I'm waiting as well. I expect there will likely be a bundle deal when all 3 are on steam. And ~~$70~~ $60* is too steep, even for my fave game of all time (has been since 1988 nes release) that I collect every remake for like some kind of crack addict.
*Seems it dropped 10 already, they must have heard complaints
