the only explanation is that they're teaching the baby making class.
That’s fucking insane. Abortions shouldn’t be ANYONE’s concern; that’s a private medical matter between the person and their doctor. Schools certainly shouldn’t have any sort of power to do things even remotely like this. And they should be sued into the ground for human rights violations for even THINKING this.
Why would you tell your professor that you’re missing class for an abortion? Seems like it’s a private medical affair.
Because you might have to leave the state, and they might want a doctor's note.
Do doctors notes actually comment on the nature of the medical issue? Who the fuck really asks for doctors notes, no one has ever asked me for one. It seems so petty.
It might look suspicious coming from out of state…especially specific states. Plus, the doctor’s name/clinic/office are usually on it, at least that’s been my experience.
I had professors ask for them, and while the doctor might not say why, the name and address of the doctor are on the note. If you're seeing an out of state obstetrician, they're going to have a strong suspicion.
Let's be clear, it is absolutely none of their business. Your professors don't need to know anything about your personal medical information. And I agree with you that it is extremely petty.
But we're talking about Conservatives. They want to control women and punish them for consensual sex. Petty and invasive are baseline characteristics, and it gets much worse from there.
It's a school. They'll fail you if they suspect it. They don't need to prove guilt.
This article is inaccurate. I find it hard to believe anyone would use the word "professor" to describe these cavemen.
