Also Safari. The only issue I have is the auto page zoom cuts off the right side slightly. Very minor but still bothers me. I filed a bug on it over on the lemmy-ui GitHub project.

WebKit. It’s all WebKit.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

As long as Apple forces webKit for browsing, any third party browser will more or less be a safari wrapper. Until that changes, I will keep using safari in iOS.

Safari because all other "browsers" are basically wrappers for Safari and yes even Google Chrome.

Yep, Firefox for me as well on all devices.

safari because it’s the only browser compatible with extensions (I’m using AdGuard with it) and because all the other browsers are basically safari anyways.

I use Firefox Focus as a backup tho

Firefox. I love how it integrates with Firefox on the other half dozen devices and computers I use daily.

Safari here as well. Haven't found a compelling reason to switch thus far.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah it’s definitely Safari for me, most of the time. I do switch to Brave whenever I want to watch YouTube though, since it actually blocks ads there.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

lol is someone just downvoting anyone who doesn’t use brave? i don’t use brave, come downvote me

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Safari, only because of the extensions. I like being able to use custom ad block filters and userscripts.

Firefox Focus if it's just a one-off thing. Firefox if I want to keep track of it. I use Firefox everywhere though.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Firefox is my favorite browser. Best feature is the sync, which let's me access everything on my phone, personal laptop and work laptop.

[–] redsol2 2 points 1 year ago

Interesting, I've had major website loading issues on Firefox for iOS for some reason. I keep wanting to love it, but websites will just fail to load and I end up switching back to Safari

Orion Browser which comes with a built-in add blocker.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

+1

Been using this on my iPad pro for several months. I love the flexibility for extensions. It's not perfect but I enjoy the trade offs even if it does randomly slowdown sometimes.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Also using Orion! It’s the only one that’s convinced me it’s better than Safari, primarily because it’s actually more aggressive with power savings than Safari. The implementation to kill idle tab processes almost immediately is very effective imo.

[–] itiya 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I find Orion to be very laggy, even with very few tabs open. And i just cant use it because of this. Did you find it to act the same for you?

Safari, but waiting on Vivaldi to get out of beta/testflight.
I use the Vivaldi browser everywhere and would be nice to have it on iOS to.

Firefox for syncing with my other devices, but all the iOS web browsers are different skins over WebKit. I do like that Safari has support for extensions and wish Apple would allow other browsers to utilize them as well.

[–] jerrimu 4 points 1 year ago

Safari, because adblock worked before anything else did. I also use the bing app and that has its own embedded browser.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

@TwinTurbo Safari all the way. You can adjust the font and scaling without losing the orginal way the site your visting is on. Love that. currently on android though

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Firefox. Even though it doesn't have all the nice privacy and, particularly, ad-blocking capabilities as on other platforms, I use it for those reasons on my Android and Windows devices, so I like having it all synced.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Safari.

I love the tab bar to the moon and back. Every other browser is just Safari with an asterisk, since Apple makes everybody use WebKit.

I don’t use Chrome on any of my devices, so I’m not worried about missing out on sync. The fewer Google products I use, the better.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

This seems like it should be a poll. Safari.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

A moment of silence for Camino and OmniWeb… excellent Mac browsers that couldn’t join us in the modern era.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Brave. Privacy good and it uses its own search engine. Used to be handy because it showed Reddit in search results but, well, stuff happened!

[–] tdawg 3 points 1 year ago

Brave for sure

[–] macintosh 3 points 1 year ago

Safari. Nothing else has enough unique features to feel worth it. I use Arc on Mac but the iPhone app is missing too many features. Also, it’s lack of support for 2FA from passkeys (prob not their fault) and some other small features make me consider switching back to safari on Mac. I’d miss adblockers though.

[–] AnotherPerson 2 points 1 year ago

Chrome to sync all my browser stuff across platforms.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Safari to facilitate the interactions with my MacBook.

[–] RoyalEngineering 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah the handoff feature is slick. I like being able to switch between devices.

Currently I use safari and duckduckgo. I'm waiting for apple to allow other browsers to actually use their own software rather than basically be safari in new clothes and without access to extensions. Sadly.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Mostly safari. But when i need to move a website from my iPhone to Windows i will open it on firefox.

[–] thehatfox 2 points 1 year ago

Safari, with Wipr for ad blocking.

I use Safari as my main browser for Mac as well so everything is synced.

If the App Store rules are ever relaxed by Apple willingly or by regulation I would likely use a proper port of Firefox too.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Chrome. I would love to use Firefox but it doesn’t have translate.

[–] coralof 2 points 1 year ago

Brave, because of the built-in adblocking.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I use Safari but if Firefox was like how it is on Android with addons then I'd be using that instead.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Edge. Only way I found to easily send websites to and from my surface.
