It's interesting news, but what does this have to do with Ukraine, exactly?

you're still unsure as to who's been providing the majority of the drones that russia uses to kill ukrainians in their sleep, huh

I think they had quite a valid question. First of all, it's not obvious how this affects Ukraine, if in any way at all. Second, not everyone can know about Iran's involvement in the war (people are born, grown up, and informed every day).

The relevance of the post to the community should be made clear by the contents of the post. As it currently stands, there are no indicators that the event would have any influence on Iran's support for the Russian invasion.

I was going to remove this post for not being explicitly related to Ukraine but opted to leave it up so this question could be asked and answered for those that don't know the reason(s). In the future the answer should be more polite as this is one of the last places on Lemmy where the realities of this war are disseminated without an obvious pro-Russian bias, and good questions should be encouraged.

@downpunxx @Live_your_lives Now those are reported to be coming primarily from Turkey/Iran. Maybe China.

12ft.io link: I have no idea if this is good or bad news.

Wondering the same thing. Maybe next person in line won’t be a dick but doubtful.

How do you not know? Kidding. I think this is good since it is thought that Iran has been selling tons of drones to Russia. Also he was strongly imposing the morality law and was very anti-protest.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi crashed on Sunday, according to Iran’s state media and the country’s mission to the United Nations, but has yet to be found by search-and-rescue workers because of heavy fog.

The state news agency IRNA reported that an enormous search operation involving 16 teams was underway to locate the helicopter.

“Given the complexities of the region, connection has been difficult, and we are hoping that the rescue teams reach the helicopter and can give us more information,” Ahmad Vahidi, Iran’s interior minister, told state television.

Mr. Raisi was on an official visit to the province of Western Azerbaijan, a mountainous region in northwestern Iran.

A delegation of ministers traveled with him in a convoy of three helicopters, state media reported, adding that the two other aircraft had reached their destinations.

In addition to the president and the foreign minister, the governor of the province was also in the helicopter, which crashed in an area called Varzaghan, state media reported.
