When I have something that hurts, I poke at it really hard to make it hurt more for a minute so that the normal pain is ignorable.

You can resist pain somewhat if you think of it as another feeling and just observe or notice it without reacting to it

People who know meditation will be able to understand this better

Funny thing about your run of the mill bruises: poking them is one thing, but massaging the blood away from the center will often enough, lessen the healing time by a great deal. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't believe this is the case. A bruise is caused by damaged capillaries and vessels. Massaging them would just force more blood into the surface tissue worsening the bruise, no? I tried to find information on the subject, but it seems pretty limited.
