Sony is the only phone maker without those ugly notches and intruding punch holes. If only their phones were accessible. From where I am, you can't buy them.
Oof I feel you
Overall this seems like a great qol improvement. A better display, better software support and an overhauled camera experience.
I think this will finally be the phone I swap off of the pixel ...
I just hope Sony doesn't fuck it up.
They already fucked it up. They support their phones the least in the whole industry among major manufacturers. I think even shitty HMD Global supports their phones for longer now.
challenge level: impossible
Better software support? How long is it now?
Supposedly 5 years due to the eu
Sony phones>every other phones makers, hypocritically I use a Pixel because I can't buy Sony phones where I lived
Except that they give only half or less of the software support of other manufacturers.. I have a Sony 5ii. 2 years after release on the dot, not a single security update after.
same here. i get pixel because they can be rooted
3.5mm audio output?
Yes
Oh fuck yeah! I was just meming. Is it gonna be rootable?
Yes. But the American model is locked because of fucking Verizon
I can just buy the international version.
yes but then sometimes the antenna bands won't work so you'll have poor reception.
Why? My international note 20 ultra is fine.
Not the same, different manufacturers use different radios. Sony international version is probably different
Last year I needed a new phone. The Xperia V (I think) just got released and seemed perfect... But in the end I decided against it because of their horrendous update roadmap and large phone sizes. I'm not going to buy a new phone every three years and I hate phones that can't be used with one hand - and despite doing a lot of things right, those two points are just not addressed by Sony. I want their compact range back and I want Fairphone levels of updates.
There was the Sony Xperia 5 series which is smaller than the 1
Yeah. That's the one I considered more deeply. Still too big. Still only 3 years of promised security updates and only two major revisions of android. Nah, hard pass.
/edit just saw that I mixed up the Roman and Latin numbers in my previous post. Yeah, the 5 is what I meant by 5.
I changed to the 5 after having the 1 and it fits my hand perfectly as a small phone but I can also appreciate that hand sizes are obviously very subjective
I'd wish I was filthy rich to get one.
I'll probably be snagging this one at some point
Good luck with that. I hope I can get one as well
It'll bankrupt me, but Sony phones are chef kiss
Thanks for sharing !
do these work well in usa?
Yes they usually have an American model for sale
do all the US antenna bands work? last i checked they don't.
I think so except for certain Uwb radios if I remember correctly.
if this was Google Pixel with stock Android and rootable this would be the most perfect phone
I mean Sony uses an even more stock version of android that Google doesn't even use.
is it root able?
Yes if you get the global one since the ones that are the Japanese carrier/us model
Jenny trust me they're much better than pixels
nice thank you. i want to get this now.
