Official replacement for Reddit's r/GamerGhazi

Content should be articles, video essays, podcasts about topics relevant to the forum. No memes, single images or tweets/toots/... please!

Community rules:

  1. Be respectful and civil with each other. Don't be a jerk. There is a real human being on the other side of your screen. See also the Blahaj.Zone Community Rules

  2. No bigotry of any kind allowed. Making racist, sexist, trans-/homo-/queerphobic, otherwise demeaning and hateful comments are not ok. Disabilities and mental illnesses are not to be used as insults and should not be part of your comment unless speaking of your own or absolutely relevant.

  3. No gatekeeping and being rude to people who don't agree with you. Leave “gamer” stereotypes out of your comment (e.g. sexless, neck bearded, teenaged, basement-dwelling, etc). Don't compare people to animals, or otherwise deny their humanity. Even if you think someone is the worst human on the planet, do not wish death or harm upon them.

  4. No "justice porn". Posts regarding legal action and similar is allowed, but celebrating someone being harmed is not.

  5. Contrarianism for its own sake is unnecessary and not welcome.

  6. No planning operations, no brigading, no doxxing or similar activities allowed.

  7. Absolutely no defense of GamerGate and other right-wing harassment campaigns, no TERFs and transphobia, racism, dismissing of war crimes and praise of fascists. This includes “JAQing off”, intentionally asking leading questions while pretending to be a neutral party. This also applies to other forms of authoritarianism and authoritarian or criminal actions by liberal or leftist governments.

  8. NSFW threads, such as ones discussing erotic art, pornography and sex work, must be tagged as such.

  9. Moderators can take action even if none of the rules above are broken.

Will happen to Lemmy soon enough. Lenny has many of the same features as reddit. Advertisers won't overlook it should it get popular enough.

Edit: actually a lot of what's on here is already advertising for games and movies.

I was kinda creeped out when I tried searching "best mini fridge reddit"

Top results led to the sub r/techask which looks legit but if you look at any of the comments making recommendations the users are deleted or suspended. It's super sketchy. It's going to become incredibly hard if not impossible to use the internet without some kind of ai tool to sift through all the bs

AI is the solution to AI of course how could we have come up with this sooner

I always do a double take when people are surprised about this kind of thing. Does no one here remember how much the Reddit owners and admins absolutely hate the users and mods? They are gleefully selling those people out. Go back and read some of the admin announcement threads when there was drama, they fervently hated us all.

Yeah, the "landed gentry" of the mods and the courageous admins fighting to freedom against their oppression.

Such drama. Very feudal.
