Rules

Disclaimer These rules are copied directly from r/DnDMemes and will be adapted to Lemmy shortly.

Rule 1. Be Excellent to One Another: No trolling, harassment, personal attacks, sea-lioning, hate speech, slurs, or name-calling. Overly off-topic, political, or hateful debates will be removed, and bans may be issued based on severity. This includes both posts and comments. We reserve the right to remove content or comments that contain discrimination or distasteful content. Be kind and stay on topic.

Rule 2. No Reposts: Posts must not have been posted in !DnDMemes before. Reports with direct links to the original post will greatly expedite their removal process. Reposts from other subreddits are allowed, but once a meme is posted to !DnDMemes, it will forever after be considered a repost.

Rule 3. Post Style Guide: Posts must be strongly relevant to D&D (or other TTRPGs) and must include an attempt at humor or entertainment. Posts must be legible, understandable for a general audience and have some effort put into them, including titles. Video posts may be up to 3 minutes long, and they must be humorous in nature. Only one meme is allowed per post; posts with multiple images inside of them, such as a collage, will be removed. Posts must not rely solely on the title to relate to D&D.

Rule 4. No Advertising: Meme culture is non-profit. No links to stores, fundraising/payment sites, or comments asking for money/followers. Social media handles or website watermarks on original content are acceptable, unless these are monetized, and self promotion of one’s own social media should be limited to once per week. Accounts whose sole purpose are to push products, whether legitimately or fraudulently, will be permanently banned and their content removed.

Rule 5. No Piracy: Do not share or request pirated content. No linking, hinting at, or naming hosts of illicit non-SRD D&D content. You are allowed to copy-paste relevant rules or sections from sources, but large blocks of text may be removed.

Rule 6. No Beating a Dead Horse: Moderators may step in to issue a 3 month prohibition on certain meme topics and formats. The requirements for placing a topic on hiatus are 1. The topic has been prominent on the front page for at least 3 days or 2. The debate topic is toxic in nature. Certain historically overdone themes or formats may be retired permanently at moderator discretion/per user poll. Please see the current list.

The rules listed above are not exhaustive and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. Such decisions can be appealed in mod mail, and the mods will do their best to come to a productive resolution. All "borderline" mod decisions are the product of informed and objective internal discussion. We welcome feedback on our rules and are always seeking to improve them for better clarity and creating a friendly, social environment here at !DnDMemes.

Btw, Shad is unfortunately a closeted alt-right nutcase, just not on his main channel. I used to watch his vids until I learned that and now I feel gross about him. At least I still have Skallagrim. Shad does have another channel where he shows his true colors, but I don’t remember the name off hand.

Closeted? Nah, he’s loud and proud about his bullshit. Fuck that guy. I hope his multi hour rants about the “woke mind virus ” finishes obliterating his already dog shit reputation.

I knew he was a nut job but I didnt realize he went full on sargon, fuck and he had decent content back in the day.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He is close with Sargon. When YouTube rightfully banned Sargon, Shad made a video about it calling the banning unjust.

It was shortly after than I unsuited and blocked his channel.

His content want very good anyway. Extreamly opinionated and usually wrong and his book sucks.

Kind of different content, but schola gladiatoria is also a great channel about hema and (military) history that's done by a person who's not a shithead (the opposite actually).

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Schola Gladiatoria is good content, but it's not as fantasy-oriented as Shad's stuff so not really a good substitute. Shad just did a video about the usefulness of car tires for making improvised armor in a Mad-Max post-apocalyptic setting, for example, which is great for RPG ideas but not exactly suited to a more historical scholarly channel.

Thank you. Watching just a small subset of the channel, I'm not seeing alt-right stuff. He's certainly not liberal, but "alt-right" doesn't jump out at me. What am I perhaps missing? I've watched a bit (but not all) of the Mario review and the way of water for context. Do you have a specific idea he brings up frequently, or a specific example of something that was alt-right?

Edit: to clarify, he does talk about "appeasing the woke" and things like that, but I don't think anyone who talks about people being too "woke" are alt-right.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

It got more questionable the further I scrolled. /shurg Perhaps it's just marketing (thumbnails decrying feminism/diversity/etc) but bare minimum he gives off vibes like he's trying to cater to a far-right crowd.

Really makes you wonder how him and Jazza came from the same household

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Gotta say it’s hard not to get bad vibes from Jazza just because of that fact. He hasn’t said anything about his shit bag brothers shit bag opinions, which make me deeply suspicious he’s just as much a shit bag but knows where his bread is buttered.

[–] starman2112 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Disowning your siblings for different political opinions only serves to remove a positive influence from their life. No good would come from Jazza publicly dunking on his brother's beliefs.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hard disagree. Jazza cultivates an inclusive image for his brand, one that seems increasingly at odds with the branding of his brother’s obvious descent into alt right pandering. When people learn about the two being brothers there is almost ALWAYS a “wait how tf are those two related” moment. Plenty of family members publicly denounce their siblings when they start the descent into shitdom. As Shad gets shittier it’s harder for me - and I know I’m not alone - to not see Jazza as rainbow-washing, virtue signaling, guilty by association unless he demonstrates otherwise.

[–] starman2112 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I don't see how you disagreed with anything I said. What good would it do (aside from you enjoying the man's content more) for Jazza to disown his brother, rather than continue to be in his life and try to be a positive influence? Would Shad become a better person because of it? Of course not.

"Plenty of family members publicly denounce their siblings when they start the descent into shitdom." Is that good? Does it make the world a better place? Or does it only serve to improve how much you enjoy consuming their content?

"Guilty by association?" Guilty of what? This toxic mindset of suggesting that people need to cut all contact with the ones they love because of differing political opinions doesn't help anyone. I would bet my life that not one single, solitary, individual alt-right shithead has ever changed his ways because his siblings publicly decried him. All that does is push people further into their echo chambers.

On the contrary, embracing the awful people in the world leads to positive change within them. The only reason you might think it's good to disown bad people is if you think they don't deserve to become better, and the world is somehow better off if they remain bad.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I don’t understand what you don’t get about what I’m saying. His brand and his business and his audience is at risk because his feel good inclusive brand is negatively impacted by his shit bag brothers multi hour diatribes against the woke mind virus. It will come around to bite him eventually. Clearly distancing himself from those views would be a good thing for him and his business and his community, to say nothing about the tens of thousands (or more) audience members that are look up to him and are constantly being attacked by Shads bullshit. Speaking out against his brothers toxic shit would be good and right.

And yes, calling out your toxic family members — especially before they are YT algorithmed down the far right pipeline - DOES make the world a better place. Who else is going to have that kind of impact?

[–] cosmosparda 7 points 1 year ago

I am saddened to know this. Yeah that other channel looks pretty gross.

[–] teft 3 points 1 year ago

That's unfortunate. I used to like his videos.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I too enjoy disregarding bad things! Woke liberals hate this one simple trick- just ignore anything immoral!
