Yanis Varoufakis was due to give a speech at the Palestine Congress in Berlin on Friday April 12, when German police burst into the venue to disband the event 1930s style. Judge for yourselves the kind of society Germany is becoming when its police bans the following words.

The title is complete bullshit, that speech was never banned.

The event he was planning to give it at was canceld because of another speaker before he was up. It had nothing to do with his speech.

PALESTINE CONGRESS UPDATE: German police have begun arresting participants of the congress in Berlin before it has even started. The event was due to begin at 12pm local time but police are stopping people from entering demanding that organizers allow all German media entry.

Hundreds of people are being stopped from entering the congress by police who are pressuring organizers to accept their extraordinary demand. Organizers insist on maintaining their accreditation process to ensure the smooth running of the event and highlight that the venue’s capacity is limited, ie. if there is no limit on press entry, those who have bought event tickets may be unable to attend. Police say their unprecedented demand, is necessary to ensure “freedom of the press”.

German media, which since October 7 has uncritically churned out pro-Israel propaganda, has been running a vicious weeks-long smear campaign against the congress and its organizers, alongside politicians who have been demanding the police shut it down.
