Dark Star is a 1974 American science fiction comedy film produced, scored and directed by John Carpenter and co-written with Dan O'Bannon. It follows the crew of the deteriorating starship Dark Star, twenty years into their mission to destroy unstable planets that might threaten future colonization of other planets.

A strange but cool movie. It's not perfect, but it's got its moments

The whole conversation with the bomb is still my favorite part. Something very Douglas Adams about it.

It's not just the ads, it's the mandatory Google account.

This is my favourite Carpenter movie. His music he used in it is also fantastic.

US Only yes, sorry. I hesitate to share these links but in this case, I knew there would be interest and this was the only legit link I could find. I thought for sure there could be a better link on YT as the film is many years old, but greedy hollywood is still greedy.

My friends and I were returning from a hike in the Ouachita mountains and we listened to the audio of this movie on the way home. My stereo could play DVDs but didn't have anywhere to display the video. That was a neat ride back.

This reminds me -- I used to record the audio from my kidsd dvds and play it back in the car all the time. That was fun and an interesting shift from watching the films. Robots, Over the Hedge, Brother Bear... Oh and Portal 2 as well. Good times!
