The new buttons for commenting and voting take up a whole bunch of space at the bottom of each comment. I think it would be more compact and readable if those buttons move up to the top of the comment.

The comment button could move right next to the three dot menu (or comment could become an option in the three dot menu).

The vote buttons could be combined with the vote counters already displayed (i.e. click the upvote arrow or upvote count to upvote the comment).

I’m assuming you don’t want the swipe actions, correct? The comment buttons in bottom right can be disabled, but as you mentioned the functionality isn’t baked into the things you described. Only swiping.

Profile —> Settings —> Content —> Comments —> show comment actions.

Awesome, I didn’t realize you could switch them off! I use gestures so losing the buttons totally solves this for me. Thanks for the help!

Oh wow, thanks for that! I’ve been swiping so they were useless to me. I wish it said “show comment buttons” instead of “actions”, I would have understood what it meant when I looked at settings the other day.

That looks much better!

Absolutely, needs slightly more refinement. I keep switching between apps and I feel like this impacts the reading experience.

That being said…the app is only a month old. I am sure this will be changed over time.

Likewise, in the post feed, make the up and down arrows by the vote counts clickable.

This. I really want to scroll and upvote one-handed while I hold my infant lol.

Those arrows were clickable in Apollo, so I’ve got muscle memory working against me.

One of the devs did not like the idea of the vote counters being clickable. Hence the buttons.

Aww. Maybe they’ll reconsider one day.

I don’t mind them personally, tho I admit that I use gestures more than anything.

[–] samokosik 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe focus solely on gestures?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

You can hide the buttons in the settings and just use gestures

Even with disabling comment options I do think it would be a nice QoL change to allow hitting the number of votes to vote (ontop of leaving swiping how it is)
