It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.

My usual caution for not-yet-released ebikes: if you are in the market for a first ebike of this description, and you're thinking of waiting until this is released, don't. Do not wait for ebikes to become available. The market now has plenty of competitors -- available right now -- but no one can buy more time on this earth. Find an ebike that fits your needs and just get riding.

As an aside, the Indigogo product page has the weirdest depiction of a bike's range I've ever seen: a map showing the 60 mile (97 km) route from east San Jose, CA to southwest San Francisco. Their best idea to showcase the distance was to go from a suburban, single-family home subdivision in the South Bay foothills to the area around the largest -- and only? -- freshwater lake and park in San Francisco?

The only way this makes sense to me is if they're routing onto the Bay Area Ridge Trail, which is a system of trails running high above the bay on the surrounding mountains. And unlike the SF Bay Trail along the shoreline, the Ridge Trail does connect those two destination. But it's longer than 60 miles.

Looks cool, but I find it hilarious you have a beast of an ebike like that, yet still need to lug a ton of gear on your back. The bike was not designed for any kind of practicality or carrying capacity. 😂

This seems to be marketed as a trail bike, not a commuter/utility bike.

Did you see the marketing video? Hunters with full gear on an electric bike that should be carrying it all.

I always ride with a backpack on because I'll much rather have the weight on my back than on my bike. It might not matter when commuting but it does on the trails.

Crowdfunding. Meh.

Do yourself a favor and buy an ebike from one of the big established bicycle companies. They have decades of experience in building bikes, think about it.

Good advice: I bought an ENGWE EP-2 for $700 and regret not saving up more to buy or build a proper bike.

Mmmm. So you know, tearing up a wilderness area on an electric motorbike is just as damaging as doing it with a gasoline powered one.

Ride responsibly folks.
