Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

People should start worrying about what they are going to eat before they make plans on where they are going to get the champagne from

This article is about one particular topic.

There are other articles about other topics.

True, but in General there is a tendency to underestimate the catastrophy the world is heading towards, and to make other people underestimate it too, so they buy your luxury goods.

And it's this article's responsibly to address that?

Idk, I'm not really talking about whether the article is good or not, but about the people it is about and their misconception about what the challenges of climate change will be. Maybe the article itself is also a problem because its not at all critical about that stance, but whatever.

Only for a few decades until the Atlantic current fully changes course. But in those decades it will bring beautiful value to shareholders.

Denbies has been making "champagne" for decades now, in the hillside above Dorking (same place where James May built the Lego house)

I can’t remember the make but I went to wedding at a vineyard in Surrey…their wine tasted pretty good to me. Also good British wine around the Welsh marches (3 Choirs?).

My Spanish friends don’t believe British wine exists.
