That's one peculiar albatross, I like it.

Rules
AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).
Nudity: Nudity is and has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude subject matter.
Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.
Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.
It's a cormorant. There's a lot of them by the water where I live.
I think that's a snake bird.
edit: unearned confidence got me again
I used a cormorant as reference, but they do look a lot alike. Didn't know these kind of bird. They look very cool!
Honestly, it's a really nice piece! I should've waited until I was fully awake before posting π
It made me think about that porm "rhyme of the old mariner", where sailors were stuck on a calm sea (no wind at all, I'm not sure what's the real sailing term for that).
I don't remember the full details, but a guy killed an albatross and got cursed for that. They hung the albatross around his neck as a sign of the curse.
Thus, bird + dead ship made me think of that story!
Thank you very much π Someone else mentioned this poem as well! I'm gonna listen to it when drawing tonight. Ian McKellan reads it in this video
Dead calm sea is common in the area of the equatorial atlantic called the doldrums
Sweet
Thanks :)
Wow, that is an awesome piece.
Thank you!
The title isn't a typo. Sometimes we need a smooth sea as to not work ourselves to death.
But the caption of the image is different?
Uh shit... that is a typo. I'm really glad I can reupload an image here. Thanks for making me aware
No worries πΊ
Do you sell these?
I will put it up on my Big Cartel store and send you a link :)
You can get a print here :)
Thank you!
And could i use it as a background image on my phone?
Sure! Sorry for the late answer, Lemmy wont let me comment or post on computer...
