I am hoping it is just the ~~end~~ conclusion of the Autophage storyline.
Not so much the end. It's the last letter of the Greek alphabet which is used to symbolize the end, but it doesn't explicitly and exclusively mean the end.

Unfortunately I think there's a decent chance this will be the last major update or Expedition as they shift their focus to Light No Fire. I hope that's not the case.
