OK, strictly speaking not just wefwef, but please understand that the languages settings in the web-interface of Lemmy can have huge impact on your experience.

If you choose the wrong or not enough languages, you might miss out on content posted to the fediverse.

Don't get me wrong, the language setting is a good idea. But it appears many users don't understand it and post in some language irrespective of the actual language of the OP, resulting in you not seeing those posts.

I think the main thing is to not deselect 'undetermined' like it says. I really don't care if I see posts from people who cant set their language correctly.

Help me understand better, please. Currently I just have English selected. Will this have a larger effect than simply filtering out posts that are not in English?

You might also want to add "undefined" as some posts may not have a default language tag and you'll miss those posts. I filter out other languages and haven't missed out on much IMO.

I had an issue yesterday where I couldn't post a comment without going into the web interface to pick a language.

What really pissed me is the fact that I've to choose the post language at every single post/comment I write. Why can't lemmy just have a setting so I can say "consider all my posts are English unless I change it?"

Seriously, this is bullshit and the person who designed this should have a few points removed from their social credit score. Wasn't it obvious that a dropdown under settings to pick the default language was necessary?

Even worse, when I edit a comment/post I suddenly have to pick the language again.
