Back in the day, before digital cameras, it was common to create multiple group photos, one with everyone's cameras, especially if we met with relatives who lived far away. It was hard to create a copy of a photo and send it by post, it was just easier that everyone just shots the same photo and everyone can just develop it at home, when the roll is over.

And now we have tools such as magic eraser, but "OP" decided to just scratch all the people with the marker.
