Fun fact. Most benefits from the VA aren't actually taxable. And while you can get service connected on VA claims before getting out, SSDI is its own deal with its own rules.

Also, if they haven't completed 8 years of service Uncle Sam still owns that ass, even if it's Individual Reserve. (No drills, no annual training, just the prospect of an activation letter one day.)

So someone has been giving this soldier some really bad information.
