Rules:

1) Treat Others in a Civil Manner. This is not the place to deride others for their race, sexuality, or etc. Personal insults of other members are not welcome here. Neither are calls for violence.

2) No Contemporary Politics Historical politics that influenced designs or adoption of designs are excluded from this rule. Acknowledgement of existing laws to explain designs is also permissable, so long as comments aren't in made to advocate or oppose a policy. Let's not make this a place where we battle over which color ties our politicians should have, or the issues of today.

3) No Advertising This doesn't apply to posting historical advertisements.

4) Keep Post on Topic This rule will be enforced with leeway. Just keep it related to arms or Forgotten Weapons. If you feel you have something that's worth posting here that isn't about either of those (and doesn't violate other rules) feel free to reach out to a mod.

5) No NSFW Content Please refrain from posting uncensored extreme gore or sexualized content. If censored these posts may be fine.

Post Guide Lines

These are suggestions not rules.

-Provide a duration for videos. eg. [12:34]

-Provide a year to either indicate when a specific design was produced, patented, or released. If you have an older design being used in a recent conflict provide the year the picture was taken. Dates should be included to help contextualize, not necessarily give exact periods.

-Post a full URL, on mobile devices it can be hard to tell what you're clicking on if you only see "(Link)".

-Posts do not have to be just firearms. Blades, bows, etc. are also welcome.

Huh. I figured much more. That's actually cheaper than the handgun I want with all the accessories (I want the pistol Snake has in MGS1). Last time I looked, just the gun was nearly $1200.

The Mark 23 'SOCOM'?

Yeah I am seeing prices of between 2200 to 2700 for a new one of those, depending on specific finishes and grips and whatnot.

Probably about another grand for the suppressor, if theyre legal in your state.

Gunbroker barely even has any, one or two are cheaper than that but not by much, many are much more expensive (4 to 5k) collector bundles.

Yeah, you can get an actual semi auto rifle, a pretty nice one, for 2200 to 2700.

I am pretty sure the SOCOM is absurdly expensive because... its HK, its quite popular amongst military history afficionados, and its been in several games and movies rather prominently.

I was gonna post this earlier, but yeah the gun market is currently quite odd right now in that there are many, many popular pistols that are literally as or more expensive than roughly equally popular semi auto rifles.

I think a Bren 2, new, is currently cheaper than a new Mark 23, at about 2000.

Here is Cabelas for the Mk 23 (HK doesnt directly sell anything but parts):

https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/hk-mark-23-semi-auto-pistol

$2500

And here is a Bren 2 from CZ:

https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-bren-2-ms-carbine/

$2000

Not sure when you last checked prices on a Mk23 for it to be only 1200 lol.

Or perhaps either you or I have a different Solid Snake pistol in mind?

Best of luck with getting the LAM for it. I wouldn't be shocked if you had to pay 5k+ in total for something like that. Since Snake used a prototype laser aiming module for some reason, your path won't be an easy one.
