I had a Canon T5i with a 600mm telephoto lens on a tracking mount, and used Magic Lantern (a firmware addon) to automatically take bracketed exposures at intervals of a few seconds. It let me actually enjoy the eclipse instead of trying to take photos during it. I actually got a much better photo of the solar prominences at my lowest exposure, though they are still overexposed somewhat. (Who knew they're that bright?)
