Add MS 29987 is a mediaeval Tuscan musical manuscript dating from the late fourteenth or early fifteenth century, held in the British Library in London. It contains a number of polyphonic Italian Trecento madrigals, ballate, sacred mass movements, and motets, and 15 untexted monophonic instrumental dances, which are among the earliest purely instrumental pieces in the Western musical tradition.

Woah. ๐Ÿ˜ณ That's way faster than I've ever heard that tune played (I have a tiny collection of albums and CDs of medieval music). That is some seriously impressive finger work, at least to me. Idk anything about percussion except I couldn't even begin to do that.

Right? There's a pit leader I play with sometimes who likes to do dances very fast (quite understandably), but this is a whole other level.

These performers have a few videos from this same session, and they're all delightful.
