coolest thing i'd read all day.

tldr: active shielding is getting more viable because of higher temperature super conductors that can be cooled by liquid nitrogen instead of liquid helium, and also electrostatic field something something only needs 1 million volts instead of 60 million, and some kind of engineering physics magic makes that only like 100 Watts instead of megaWatts.
