It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.

I feel like people are missing why this is such a big deal. BMW made this.

One of the worlds biggest automakers, astoundingly good engineers, many millions of dollars a year spent predicting industry trends, worldwide logistics chains for spare parts and maintenance... BMW wouldnt be doing this unless they were confident it was a smart move for the future and were confident in their product.

This isnt a small boutique manufacturer with who knows what in the way of QC, support and spares who could literally go out of business without warning.

I dunno, BMW also made the i3 and then let it wither on the vine. We'll see how they price/market/support it.

I think the I3 was a misstep in that people were crying out for a small electric car... but brand new BMW money is also Tesla money. It wasnt that the I3 wasnt what the market was crying out for, it was just from a manufacturer with too much badge, not enough value.

I think this is just a to marked test bed. They don't think it is going to sell. They are both testing a manufacturing feasibility and getting some real world data on both the marker and product support. I think they are trying to see if it is a Smart move.

Oh absolutely, its a gamble on BMWs part but its very encouraging for the sector overall that BMW are being seen to be throwing their hat in the ring.
