mmm problem is most of the time when they say "wireless" they mean "not physically connected but requires your wifi to tap into a gigantic backhaul that passes constant data back to our servers to operate"
I'm gonna build a hubitat (I swear I am mum really!) but the box itself is backburnered atm, as is wiring up the basement network-wise so was hoping I could find even some cheap shitty plug in adapter like the remotes you can get for power points.
Yeah, that sucks. It really feels like a self contained "dumb" (ie not smart appliance) motion activated light should or does exist...
There are those lights that are made for sticking in gardens beside paths (though often those are solar), or the outdoor lights that come on but it depends on how far you need the motion detected and the second one might need to be hard wired.
Ikea does have self contained motion lights that run off rechargeable batteries and may be stick on (intended for cupboards or drawers) but they might not be powerful enough for a room and obvious drawbacks with batteries.
There was a self contained outdoor light but it was meant to be attached by a bolt and was solar powered.
Woolies/Big W also has a self contained battery thingy which might work for temporary use until you do the hubitat https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/1074588760/crest-rechargeable-led-with-motion-sensor-medium
Or this little motion sensor emergency torch guy https://www.amazon.com.au/AP-Emergency-Sensor-Light-Rechargeable/dp/B00AC1K3Z4
I have a doorbell that plugs directly into a socket but is wireless to the akshul door. No web anything. Maybe something like that could be reverse engineered to work a light switch instead of a doorbell.
no passthrough :/ the socket part just pulls power to run the receiver and noisemaker parts that pick up the signal from the buttonpress.
