Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

MODERATORS

His immunity defense isn’t merely a legal argument. He’s priming his base to back wanton lawbreaking if he wins back the White House.

The log points to a comment that was removed, so there’s no way to know what was said.

[–] jordanlund 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Generally the log will contain the full comment if it was removed under "Remove Comment".

The bit where it doesn't is if the mod chose "Ban user - x day(s) - Remove Content"

That's why, when it's a ban level offense, I remove the comment first to preserve it in the log, THEN ban the user.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I’ve yet to see a removed comment point to whatever comment was removed. So it’s impossible to ever know what was done that was wrong.

[–] jordanlund 2 points 10 months ago

Oh, it doesn't link to the comment, it links to the comment thread, but the full text of the removed comment is preserved in the modlog which is why the modlog carries a content warning.

(phew) Finally got the mod log to load on your account:

https://lemmy.world/modlog?page=1&userId=5357429

You've had 2 comments removed and one post locked, here's what it looks like, let's check this one at a time:

Telling another user you're going to piss all over them and that they deserved it and should enjoy it is, in fact, pretty much the definition of incivility. I didn't remove that comment, but had I seen the report, I would have removed it too.

To be clear, offensive language is not a problem, directing it at other users is the problem.

Mod removed that under rule 1, but I can't tell which community. It doesn't match rule 1 in either Politics or World News. It doesn't look to me to be necessarily a rule breaking comment in the same way the other one is.

So again, I have other accounts. Not just this one. And I’ve gotten comments removed from them with no reason.

Additionally…. My comment was in context of what I was responding to. Yet- that comment remains. Only mine was removed.

You people clearly don’t read the discussions, you just knee-jerk react to whiny kids complaining because people are disagree with them. You don’t understand that this is a game to them. They start arguments, and bait people into getting themselves banned because they know there’s a mod bias.

[–] jordanlund 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

We often get reports where it's an internet slap fight top to bottom, and that's not necessarily visible in the mod log.

It IS visible in the reporting system where two people are reporting each other repeatedly and the mods are basically being asked to be mom or dad, the general consensus in those cases is "I don't care who started it, both of you go to your rooms!" :)

Best advice I can give you is do not take the bait, do not feed the trolls. ;)

Yeah. I’m be harassed on an other account. I’ve reported this person for spamming/stalking me…. You guys haven’t done shit about. Their comments are still there.

So tell me again how there’s no mod bias?

[–] jordanlund 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Link me to a thread, I'll take a look.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

The problem in threads like this is that these kids report everything they disagree with, and people with an ounce of maturity don’t. I’m fine if someone wants to mouth off. So I don’t report it. Yet when I respond in kind, I’m the bad guy- they’re the victim, and my comments get removed.

These kids are playing you. They’re running the show and you’re culling the herd for them.

So you want me to post a link to one of my alt account publicly? Don’t you have a mod log of complaints? Check for the one where multiple reports of harassment were submitted.

That’d be the dipshit you’re doing nothing about.

[–] jordanlund 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

No, you can PM me anything you'd like me to look at, just keep in mind, as a moderator I can only take action in the communities I'm assigned to, but I can reach out to other mods and site admins.

I see the new reports, I'll PM you.

[–] jordanlund 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

So this is weird, I got an alternate version of the modlog to load and it shows no action taken against you at all (at least under this user name).

PM me the details and I'll raise it with the site admins.

I’ve got several accounts. Yeaterday, I saw one of my posts was removed. And there was nothing in my notifications. Just…. “Removed.”
