JVG is mostly good for games that don't matter, where his weird tangents are entertaining instead of distracting. But ESPN is sorely mistaken if they think letting him go instead of Mark Jackson will be an improvement.

On the other hand, I would love for TNT to pick him up and just give the Van Gundy brothers a game a month to just go nuts during. Maybe they can test out an AI play-by-play for those games.

They kept Mark Jackson over JVG. I guess there must be reasons but I can't think of any. MJ is insufferable as a commentator. As a person seems nice enough.

He's a bigot and a hypocrite who cheated on his wife. Not sure I'd consider him "nice."
