This is the place for discussing the potential collapse of modern civilization and the environment.

Collapse, in this context, refers to the significant loss of an established level or complexity towards a much simpler state. It can occur differently within many areas, orderly or chaotically, and be willing or unwilling. It does not necessarily imply human extinction or a singular, global event. Although, the longer the duration, the more it resembles a ‘decline’ instead of collapse.

I have a generator, about a month of frozen food and enough gas to keep it frozen for a month (1hr on, 12hrs off with the lid closed). I plan on bartering power and entertainment for more gas and food.

As long as your stuff is indeed frozen, and you aren’t opening it up, the food will stay frozen for almost 48 hours.

Source: I turn people’s power off for a living.

You run the backhoe for Bell service techs?

🤣 This is so on the nose. During Telus’ big fiber optic infrastructure push I’d respond to 1-2 outages caused by them digging or directional drilling through services.

Ngl I kinda wish they’d hit mine because I’m about to upgrade my panel/service.

I thought a fridge starts to spoil in 4 hours not 12?

Fridge maybe, but I have a chest freezer. They are really good at rejecting heat as long as you dont open the lid.

Ah, that's next on my buy list for sure
