I think OP is saying that this is more common among people with ADHD, than those without.
I don't have adhd and I absolutely do this as well.
That honestly sums up 90% of the posts on this sub.
The part that makes it more adhd like i think has do with the experience and feelings that comes with this. A feeling of eptyness and the dopamin hunger the brain has so when it finally finds something that makes it feel something the brain just makes you overdo it into oblivion untill it doesn't work anymore and you again feel empty. Music can absolutely make everyone smile and feel happy but with ADHD it's harder to find this and when it does it cannot manage it.
There's a lot of correlation between highly intelligent people and executive dysfunction. One of the more common symptoms of ADHD in young people, is their voracious appetite for knowledge, especially regarding things that spark their interest. Like learning everything there is to know about Yo-yos. Or knitting. Or why that particular song tickles their brain.
