EST is UTC-5:00. GMT is usually (always?) UTC.
Yeah I said GMT because I forgot the other acronym, I remembered something like ITC but that looked wrong
I believe the name UTC is a compromise between the English Coordinated Universal Time and the French Temps Universel Coordonne. As in all the best compromises, no one got what they wanted.
ITC is isothermal titration calorimetry.
