If you find an injured owl:

Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.

Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.

Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.

If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

Just wanted to share this quick. My girlfriend is in a support group that's closing at the end of the month, so they used the last of their funds to have a going away party. They took them all to lunch and an art studio, and my girlfriend chose to make this.

She got the bare wood block, stained it grey, brushed the background, and the rest is stencil work. It came out very nice and now it's in the living room.

She had so much fun, we found another art class coming up next month for her to do. This one they use s special mud/clay on a window screen to build depth and texture, and then then paint over that. Looks to give a great 3d effect to the finished piece and the background being semi transparent is neat. The event promo pic for that is below.

Always be sure to check your area for local owl-vents! We also went on a Hoot Hike to find Screechies this weekend, but no luck there. It was still fun to be in the park at night looking around.

That would make an awesome T-shirt design, too!

Ooo it would!

The one year at the beach she got a light hoodie with a not too dissimilar patterned owl on it. That thing was pretty cool.

I'm excited to see the screen painting. I've never seen that before.
