From how I'm reading that Reddit post, the OP is speaking strictly of lemmy.ml, not Lemmy as a whole and the developers.
Be it true or not about lemmy.ml - I have no opinion as I haven't looked into that.
I know, but the admins of lemmy.ml also control the whole Lemmy software, so these rumors will damage the entirety of Lemmy, and I don't want it to be ruined by malicious rumors.
If the rumors are false then they need to be disproven, public statement or whatever is suitable.
However, if the rumors are true then Lemmy=bad by the same logic that Reddit=bad or Twitter, Facebook and the rest, and I would not want anything to do that might support them. (this is also why I do not use the other platforms)
Now, having said that: what are the rumors? The "rumors" that I have seen are backed by sources, making them credible.
