I'm having a meeting to set mine up on Thursday. My company matches 3%, and that's what I'm putting in.

I hope that the dude I'm meeting with can choose my investments for me, but idk if that's an option here.

I want to be prepared.

All I need to know about 401ks I learned from the first 25 or so pages of Mutual Funds for Dummies:

  • Pick a growth fund (high risk) for money you won’t need for a while
  • Pick an income fund (low risk) for money you’ll need soon

That’s really all there is to it. The whole point of a mutual fund is that someone else does all the thinking about picking stocks.
