I'm not a hair stylist, but I'm not seeing any other communities that can help me out, and I'd rather not go back to reddit for it. If anyone knows of a better community, please let me know.

I'm a hairy guy, so I'm always warm, and my wife is always cold, so I started doing full body epilation this summer. Now that it's getting cold, I'd like to switch to trimming my hair short (5mm max).

I have several trimmers, but my hair grows pretty much grows flat against the skin, so the guide combs won't lift them up to trim them.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a trimmer with guide combs that would solve this issue before I go down the rabbit hole of designing my own.

I use the Wahl Professional 5-Star Series Detailer. The blade can be zero gapped and it comes with three guards (1/2, 1, and 1 1/2).

You could also just use whatever clippers you have now without a guard. Non-professional clippers will generally leave hair 1 or 2 mm long if used without a guard.
