Kind of seems like it went nowhere fast. Asking for a friend.

Not even close. We livin' our best life over here. Tell your friend to download Linux.

Feddit UK seems dryer than a two-week-old scone. Kind of thought it would have taken off by now if it was going to, hence my check in.

Must be your subs or your instance. Check out lemmy.world or lemmy.ml. they are the most active.

There are no algorithms pushing content, so the Fediverse is what you make of it.

The complaint that Lemmy is nothing but posts about Linux is really just a sign that they haven't put the work in. My subscription feed supplies a stream of content that I'm interested in and this instance's Local feed keeps a steady stream of news and regional posts coming in (I often catch breaking news stories here).

Are you just looking at the "local" feed? You can also subscribe to other communites (so you individually search for things that might interest you, then subscribe to those), or look at "all" for everything else.

Also, I sort by "top 12 hours" which shows today's most active posts, and seems a fair compromise between putting you where the conversation is and showing you new stuff.
