Two things here.

First is why doesn't Maine have a red flag law? I mean that seems a small thing to enact that may have prevented this mass murder.

According to a bulletin by the Maine Information and Analysis Center, Card "recently reported mental health issues to include hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, [Maine]".

One reporter asked: "How would someone that fits that profile still be in possession of semi-automatic weapons?"

Maine does not have a "red flag law" – a provision in some states and local areas that allows judges or police to temporarily take away a person’s guns if they pose a threat to themselves or others. Source

Second is ... cornhole club (same source)? 🤔

Wednesday was league night at the venue for teams playing cornhole – a game that involves tossing bean bags at a wooden board with a hole in the middle.

It's that game where there are two opposing slanted boards with holes in them, and you toss bean bags, trying to hit the hole, land on the board, knock off opponents' bags. Low-budget shuffleboard, kind of.

It's super fun, specially while drunk.

I'm old, and when I was young that word meant something vastly different.

I have no idea why that word was selected, either.

Typically the bags used are filled with dried corn, so the game is throwing the bags into a hole = corn hole.

That said, I just call it "playing bags." Lol

In my high school health class we had to do a whole unit about cornhole for some reason. We had to play it for an entire month.
