Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I may be cynical but any distro that is tightly integrated with systemd, as it makes their life so much easier, may also find they have come to rely heavily on the generosity and kindness of IBM.
This is days after Debian announce a new release with the tightest systemd integration yet.
IBM have systemd, wayland, gnome, pipewire alongside the feature creep of systemd is quite the package.
I'm glad projects like Gentoo, Slackware, Void, Crux and stuff like musl and toybox are keeping choice alive.
This has been a 10yr plan.
