This is one of my all time favorite soups, probably because I like things with a lot of stuff on/in them. It says the rice cakes are optional, but I feel like they're a must. Additionally, I'd highly recommend adding ramen noodles in addition to the glass noodles and rice cakes.

It's got such an interesting origin. If you have a Korean or Asian store around you, definitely try to find the Nong Shim Army Stew Instant Ramyun. It's great and you can just add stuff to it for a quick and easy meal.

I’m blessed to have a decent amount of Korean restaurants to choose from, but a make at home option sounds great. Hadn’t considered that, thanks.

Can’t really think of anything other than the kimchi and tofu that’s not canned anyway, should be pretty easy to make.

And agree, very interesting story.

Oh, it's just the instant packets like Shin or Neoguri, or the millions of others, lol. But the Korean Army Stew one has beans, little fake spam things, and some other stuff. I still usually add a slice of cheese, egg and sometimes some extra real spam. But yeah, making it from scratch is still pretty easy as well. But sometimes having a quick and easy meal is needed and the instant version is still really good.
